Joanne Twombly's ability to convey the complexities involved in this kind of treatment makes her book a real gem. Her introduction to IFS concepts and language, and her ability to convey the integration of IFS with other aspects of complex trauma treatment, are real strengths of this book. Her voice a a writer and clinician is concise and clear: The language she uses to explain dissociation, adaptation to trauma, and treatment is straightforward and understandable, and non- pathologizing. She manages to describe extremely complex topics and processes in a way that makes them seem simple - the mark of a gifted clinician and teacher! This is a book to read and then come back to again and again.
